Liftlogic strengthens SMT production with new Yamaha solder printer and AOI

As production demands continue to grow, Swedish electronics manufacturer Liftlogic has invested in a new Yamaha solder printer and AOI solution to further strengthen quality, flexibility and efficiency in their SMT production.

For Liftlogic, the investment is a natural next step in building a more stable and scalable production environment for the future.

The company already operates Yamaha pick-and-place machines installed in 2021, and the possibility to integrate new equipment into the existing SMT line became an important part of the decision.

Who is Liftlogic?

With more than 30 years of experience developing modular control systems for the lift industry, Liftlogic has built a strong reputation for combining innovation with practical, customer-focused engineering.

The company develops and manufactures advanced electronics solutions for leading elevator manufacturers and produces approximately 170.000 circuit boards annually.

Higher demands on precision and flexibility

As Liftlogic continues to expand its SMT production and handle a growing number of double-sided PCB assemblies, the company saw an opportunity to further strengthen precision and production flexibility with updated Yamaha solutions.

'As our production has grown and we are running more double-sided boards, we saw a clear opportunity to further improve accuracy, quality, and efficiency in the solder printing process.' says Nicole Arnell, SMT operations manager at Liftlogic.

Alongside the new Yamaha YCP10 solder printer, Liftlogic also expanded its AOI capacity by adding Yamaha YSi-V AOI inspection equipment outside the main SMT line.

'By adding AOI equipment outside the main production line, we can work more efficiently while maintaining the pace and flexibility we need in production.' Nicole Arnell explains.

Together, the new SMT solutions support Liftlogic’s continued focus on stable production, high product quality, and scalable electronics manufacturing.

When evaluating and exploring new SMT solutions, Liftlogic compared several alternatives before deciding to continue with Yamaha technology across more parts of the production line.

'One of the biggest advantages is how our new equipment directly corresponds with our existing Yamaha pick-and-place machines and line workflow.' shares Nicole Arnell, SMT operations manager at Liftlogic.

By extending the existing Yamaha platform already used in production, Liftlogic strengthens the machine to machine connection between process steps - from solder paste application, to component placement, to AOI inspection.

In practice, this makes it easier to fine-tune the line, reduce variation between steps and keep production stable across different PCB types and volumes.

Liftlogic has a long-term production strategy

The new equipment investment is closely aligned with Liftlogic’s long-term strategy for scalable electronics manufacturing and continued development of its SMT production environment.

Rather than focusing purely on increasing capacity, the company sees the new Yamaha solutions as an investment in stability, efficiency and future readiness.

'The investment fits naturally into our long-term production strategy by strengthening operational reliability, improving efficiency and supporting future scalability.' says Nicole Arnell.
'Overall, the investment contributes to a more sustainable, stable and future-ready production environment for Liftlogic.'

Building on the experience from 2021

The new solder printer and AOI installation build further on the Yamaha pick and place setup introduced at Liftlogic in 2021.

Since then, the production team at Liftlogic has continued developing strong hands-on experience with the Yamaha SMT platform through daily production on the existing pick-and-place line.

With the installation of the new solder printer and AOI solution, the team has now also completed training on the new equipment together with the CORE-emt service team, and the machines are already integrated into daily PCB assembly production.

'We have been very happy with both the machines and the collaboration with the CORE team. The equipment has become a natural part of our daily production. The more we work with the equipment, the more we learn.
That experience is valuable for us as we continue developing our production and optimizing the way we work.' explain Nicole Arnell.

With the new Yamaha solder printer and AOI solution now integrated into the SMT line, Liftlogic continues to build on a stable and scalable production setup designed to support future growth in their electronics manufacturing department.
