Yamaha’s newest AOI update lets you fine-tune inspections without stopping the line

Smarter AOI inspections. Zero interruptions. More uptime.

Yamaha’s newest software update for the YRi-V 3D AOI systems brings a clever new feature to the table: instant 3D component update - with no restart required.

This means you can now tweak your inspection settings on the fly without pausing production.

In traditional AOI systems, even small program changes often mean halting the line, reloading board data, and losing valuable time. But not anymore.

With Yamaha’s update, you can make inspection improvements instantly - and keep your line running.

If your AOI system still requires a stop-and-start routine for every update - it might be time to rethink your setup.

More AOI flexibility is unlocked

With this Yamaha YRi-V AOI update, you can:

  • Apply inspection updates instantly – no reboot, no reload

  • Adjust settings for different component types (SMDs, connectors, etc.)

  • Avoid false NG results and reduce rechecks

  • Keep production moving while improving inspection accuracy

  • Work smarter on complex mixed component SMT boards

Yamaha AOI update is optimized for mixed-component boards

If you work with boards that combine small SMDs and large through-hole components (like those found in e.g. automotive control units or telecom gear), you’ve likely faced this challenge:
Default inspection settings don’t always play nice with all component types - leading to false rejects or missed issues.

With Yamaha’s update, you can now adjust and load an optimized inspection routine in the background - and have it take effect seamlessly as the next board enters the machine - no interruption, no compromise.

Want help updating your system or want to know more?

The latest AOI software update is available free of charge for all Yamaha YRi-V users.
The update is also compatible with older Yamaha YSi-V systems already in service.
